SOUTHERN MAIN TRUNK.
WILL IT BE COMPLETED? AWAITING BOARD'S DECISION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Wishing to save expense which may prove unnecessary the Public Works Department is not constructing the bridges over the Conway and Leader Rivers on the South Island Main Trunk line, and is proceeding only slowly with oilier construction work. Tlie department is awaiting the decision of the Railways Board as to whether Hie line is to lie completed. The boaril is making its second inspection of the line.
