WAIPU COMPANY’S OPERATIONS. PROTEST AGAINST SUBSIDY. WHANGAREI, Thursday. At the annual meeting of shareholders of the Waipu Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, the directors’ recommendation of a dividend of 5 per cent, on capital was confirmed. A motion to finance farmers under the rural intermediate credit scheme was defeated.

A resolution was carried protesting against the Dairy Produce Board's action in subsidising the New Zealand IlenJ-testing Association to the extent of £6OOO. IN NORTH TARANAKI DISTRICT. INCREASE IN PRODUCTION. NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. On a butter-fat basis, North Taranaki produced 2.3 per cent, more dairy produce during the season Just ended than in the previous season, thus creating a new record for production. The collapse of the cheese market during the season is reflected in statistics in the annual report of the Taranaki Producers’ Freezing Works Company. Toward the end of the season, many North Taranaki factories changed over from cheese to butter, with the result that the total cheese output declined by 2.1 per cent., and the total butler output increased by 6.7 per cent. During the season, the works received 336,987 boxes of butter, an increase of 20,945 boxes on Die previous year, and 232,862 crates of cheese, a decrease of 5007. These figures represent 14,279 tons of but-ter-fat, an increase of 322 tons, and twice the weight of butter-fat for the 1920-21 season.
