“ Hard-up ” Dance. A " hard-up ” dance, arranged by Mrs R. Chestnut and Mrs G. Scholes, ' was held in the Te Kawa West Hall, I when there was a record attendance ! As a result of the door takings the unemployment fund will be substantially I augmented. Mr G. Scholes was a capable M.C. jnd Mr Hickey provided excellent dunce music. Mr and Mrs R. Chestnut received prizes for the best “ hard-up" costumes. , League of Mothers. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a branch of the League of Mothers was held in the Crossroads Hall, when Mrs Mclntyre and Mrs Barnett, of the Ngahape League, d tailed the formation and activities of their branch. It was decided to form a branch at! the Crossroads, and Mrs Howcroft was elected president. Mrs s. Wyllie and a band of helpers provided afternoon tea. It was decided to meet on the second Wednesday of each week. Personal. Mrs Dlnsdale, of Te Kulti, who was the guest of Mrs A. Burton, has returned home. Mrs Burton accompanied ; her. —
