AUSTRALIANS’ TOUR. TEAM TO SAIL TO>MORROW, SIGHT-SEEING TRIPS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, August 12. The Australian Rugby team will sail for New Zealand on Friday. Mr J. Davis, who is manager, is preaident of the Western Suburbs Club. Mr L. J. Schmitt. New Zealand Commissioner at Sydney, states that the New Zealand Tourist Bureau is arranging a tourist trip, which will synchronise with the football tour, In order to enable the players and their Australian friends and football enthusiasts to visit some ol the attractions in the North Island, as well as to see the forthcoming test match at Auckland. The tourist trip will begin at Sydney on September 4. The cost will b* about £ in. BROADCAST DESCRIPTIONS. PERMISSION FOR THREE MATCHES. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The New Zealand Rugby Union tonight appointed Mark Nicholls captain of the North Island team and A. Strang captain of the South Island team in the match to be played Saturday.
Replying to the application of the Radio Broadcasting Company. the union gave permission for broadcasts of the North v. South "•"frb. Australia v. Maoris at Palmerston North on September 9, and the test match at Auckland on September 12. The broadcasting of all other matches against the Australian team is in th* hands of the unions concerned. INTER-ISLAND MATCH. MACKAY UNABLE TO PLAY REPLACED BY WATSON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. As Mackay cannot play for North Island on Saturday, Watson (Taranaki) will replace him. Bullock Douglas (Wanganui) has been chosen as emergency back.
