Mr J. A. Young, M.P., is in Hamilton.

Mr W. Lee Martin, M.P., left by the Limited last evening for Wellington.

Mr Allan Wilkie, the Shakespearean actor-manager, is in Hamilton.

Mr T. G. Reynolds, of Hamilton, returned from Wellington to-day.

Mr N. 11. Nash, editor and managing director of the Manawatu Evening Standard, has arrived in England on a well-earned holiday, after 50 years of newspaper work In the Dominion, writes a London correspondent.

Mr 11. E. Ryder has been elected a life member of the Wellington Trotting Club, in recognition of his long and valuable services to the club.

Dr. Murray Scott, late house surgeon at the Southland Hospital, will leave Wellington on September 10 to continue his studies at Edinburgh University.

The students selected as the Victoria University College nominees for this year’s Rhodes scholarships are Messrs M. E. Mahoney, LL.B., and Paetz.

News has been received in Christchurch that Flying-Officer Arnold Wall, who is wit li the Royal Air Force in India, received serious injury to his right eye in an accident and that there is no hope of saving it. Flying-Officer Wall is the son of Professor Wall, ‘of Canterbury College.

Mr .1. I>. Nicol, who was for some lime assistant stock inspector at New Plymouth, lias been appointed to the staff of the Ruakura Stale Farm and has taken up his new duties. Mr A. W. Scott, whom Mr Nicol succeeds, has been transferred to the Lands Department at Mastertoil.
