DOMINION POLITICS.
COUNTRY POLITICAL LEAGUE. OHAUPO BRANCH. In furtherance of the movement of the Country Political League speakers were Invited to address a meeting at Ohaupo, and Messrs Ziman, Boyd, Felsst and Harbutt were listened to attentively by a good audience. Mr Forsythe was chairman. The party’s platform was expounded, and proposed remedies for tho farmers' difficulties dealt with. A motion to form a branch of tho party was carried unanimously. A meeting of members will be held in the near future to elect officers and executive. LAKE VIEW BRANCH. A meeting of supporters of the Country Political League was held at Lake View. Mr G. H. Whyte occupied the chair. A large audience listened attentively to addresses by Messrs Ziman, Boyd and Feisst. It was unanimously decided to form a branch of the party. Supper was served by the ladies of the district. THE PROTESTANT ASSOCIATION. OPPOSITION TO GOVERNMENT. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. An announcement of the opposition of tlie Protestant Political Association to the United Party is amplified by a statement issued this evening from the Dominion conference of the association. It is contended by the association that legislation enacted under the United Government is a direct challenge to Prolestants. The conference recorded its emphatic protest against the action of the Bible in Schools League in entering Into a compact with the Roman Catholic hierarchy regarding the Religious Instruction in Public Schools Enabling Bill. A resolution from the conference stated that the association felt compelled to oppose the passage of the proposed bill.
