AN INNINGS’ MARGIN.

NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE MATCH. COUNTY MAKE 109 IN SECOND. BOWLERS HOLD ADVANTAGE. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received Aug. 12, 10.45 a.m.) BRISTOL, August 11. The New Zealand cricketers won their match against Gloucestershire by an innings and 25 runs. When stumps were drawn yesterday the visitors had made 257 for nine wickets, in reply to the county’s first innings score of 123. This morning Lowry declared the New Zealand innings closed, leaving Gloucestershire with" 134 runs to make to avert an innings' defeat. The county was dismissed for 109. Play was resumed this morning in overcast weather, and Gloucestershire commenced their second innings. The New Zealand bowlers immediately gained the upper hand. With a beautiful ball Matheson bowled Seabrook in his first over. Sinfleld was caught in the slips in tile next over and two wickets were down for no runs. Neale and Stephens then offered stubborn resistance until the latter was well bowled by Allcott. With the exception of Neale the earlier Gloucestershire batsmen were easily dismissed. Ford was dismissed by Matheson immediately after lunch and six wickets were down for 89 runs. Blunt and Vivian quickly disposed of the tail, the last three wickets falling without an additional run. The New Zealand bowlers held the advantage. Matheson bowled particularly well, swinging away late. He deserved more success. Cromb was also very steady and bowled 16 overs, including six maidens. The victory immediately preceding the third test is highly gratifying. The following are the details of the scores: — NEW ZEALAND.—First Innings.
