LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budd, of Balfour, M. Irvine and Webster, Ltd., supplies the following observations of the weather:— Barometer. Tuesday .... 30.40 Wednesday ... 30.15 Thermometer. Max. Mln. Tuesday 56.0 39.0 Barometer, 30.15, with a falling tendency. Fair to cloudy weather is indicated to-day, with higher temperature, winds mostly from a northerly direction, and occasional showers, probably becoming more unsettled after 24 hours. The rainfall for the previous 24 hours amounts to 0.06 points. The Weather Bureau wires: The indications for 24 hours from 9 a.m. this day are for northerly winds, strong to gale, and backing by north to west. Stormy weather may be expected. Rain probable.
