The King has conferred a knighthood upon Captain Campbell who reached Plymouth this morning by the Mauretania, and continued his Journey by the liner to Southampton, where a civic reception and banquet await him. i

News of his honour was conveyed! to Captain Sir Malcolm Campbell in a note from, the Prime Minister which was handed to him immediately the Mauretania reach Southampton.

The note said: “ I am glad to inform you that His Majesty has been, pleased to approve that the honour of Knighthood be conferred upon you."

The Prime Minister’s message expressed his personal congratulations. In an interview Sir Malcolm Camp-, bell said he wished the United States aspirant for the record the best of luck.
