ALLEGED SECRET COMMISSIONS. JURY FAILS TO AGREE. WELLINGTON, Thursday. In the Supreme Court this morning the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, said the question of the custom of buying-in and selling at a higher price, which had been the subject of adverse comment by him, in the case against Laery and Co., Ltd.,' was a question for the . Court, not for the jury. The company is charged on five counts with failing to disclose a pecuniary interest in' a contract., and on one count with rendering a false sales account.
After a full retirement the jury was unable to agree. A ne wtrial for the May session was ordered.
