ALL HAPPY.

IN AUSTRALIAN PRISON CAMPS. EXJOY TIIEIR "WORK It is proposed to increase the number of prison camps in New South Wales, in order to relieve the congestion at the gaols. There are now six prison camps in the State, and according to a chappain, the men are very contented and as happy as prisoners can be. The chaplain received a letter last week from a prisoner who had been sent from Bathurst Gaol to a prison camp at Bombala. It ran: “I am. very pleased and contented . . . it is a novelty to find mysellf engaged in this class of work (afforestation) ... 1 am thoroughly enjoying it . . . There is no doubt about the success of the camps; everyone is happy! It is pleasing to see the hearty spirit of co-operation between officers and men." Bathurst Gaol Full. “ Bathurst Gaol is full,” said the chaplain. “ There are more than 3UO prisoners. In the young men’s wing there is no more material for them to work with, so it is necessary for more camps to be started.”
