AT FRANKTON YARDS.

FURTHER DROP IN BEEF. PIG PRICES FIRA'IER. There was a further drop in beef at the weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday. The yarning was large and competition was keen. There was a good yarding of sheep and values showed little change. The full entry of pigs were disposed of at firmer rates. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday. An average yarding of ox beef came forward, prime quality meeting- with poor demand, while lighter beef sold at advanced prices. Cow beef, of which there was no prime quality, sold at reduced rales. Fat sheep were penned in average numbers and met with good competition. Store cattle sold at reduced rates, with fair competition. We quole:— Prime fat bullocks made up to £9 Its; lighter quality do., £7 2s Od to £8 ss; l’at cows, £4 5s to £4 10s; lighter quality do., £3 if>s to £4 2s Gd; boners, £1 16s Lo £2; vealers, £1 5s to £1 12s; yearling P.A. steers, £1 18s to £2 4s; 18 months P.A. steers, £2 to £3 4s.

Pigs.—Prices showing a slight increase on late rates were realised on an average yarding of fat pigs. An average yarding of stores and weanrrs was in good demand, prices showing a decided increase on last week’s quotations. We quote: Heavy baconers, £2 4s to £2 10s; choppers, £2 15s; light baconers and heavy porkers, £1 15s to £2 2s; light porkers, £1 10s to £1 14s; stores, 18s to £1 Gs; slips, 14s to 17s Gd; 1 weaners, 10s to 12s 6d,

Farmers’ Co-operative. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:—At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards yesterday we had a medium yarding of ox and cow beef, and a good yarding of fat sheep. Competi--1 ion for all classes of beef was not very keen and prices were a shade below’ last week’s quotations. Lale rales were fully maintained for fat sheep. There was a good yarding of store cattle, which comprised mostly 18 months and two and a-half year old steers. Although competition was not brisk, a number of pens changed hands at low values. Both fat and store pigs came forward in average numbers, all classes being slightly firmer than last week. Quotations: — Fat bullocks, £8 7s 6d to £8 17s;

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday.

Sheep.—An average yarding , and prices were on a par with late rates, although fat ewes were a shade lower. Prime well-finished wethers sold at up to 11s lOd, medium-weight fat wethers to 10s 9d, small, ditto, 10s; heavy fat ewes sold at from 4s Gd lo 5s Gd: light unfinished ewes, 3s lo 3s 9d; fat lambs, heavy, to 15s; medium weight fat lambs, 10s to 13s 3d: small l in'ibs, 8s 3d to 9s 9d. Fat Cattle.- —A moderate yarding. Prices generally were on a par with last week’s rates, hut the quality was generally inferior. Small l'at steers sold from £0 lo £7 7s 6d; young light weight fill cows at up to £5 ss: aged fat cows, £4 ss: good runners to £2 3; small and medium quality iGs to 31 s: weedy, 7s.
