A ROUGH RECEPTION.
CREDITOR STRUCK ON MOUTIf DEBTOR BEFORE COURT. William Richard Shattock, butcher, of Hamilton, met with a rougli reception when he called on one of his customers in Ellis Street, Frankton, on a recent occasion, to inquire about an account owing to him. Before Air Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Alagistrate’s Court this morning, Arthur Desmond Alorris was charged with assaulting Shattock. Evidence led by the police went to show that Shattock called at defendant’s house to inquire about an account due him. Defendant’s wife told him that, her husband was not at home. Shattock on leaving the house met Alorris outside the front gate. “ i asked him about the account,” Shattock told the Court. “He replied: ‘Well, what about it?’ and then let fly with his left, striking me in the mouth.” Several teeth in Shattock’s false plate were broken as a result of the blow. Senior-Sergeant Sweeney reminded His Worship that Alorris had been previously convicted of assault, when he struck a woman in the mouth at Whakatane. A fine of £3, with costs ss, was imposed.
