MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
CAR OVER BANK. DRIVER SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. MISHAP ON MAMAKU HILLS. Fatal injuries were sustained by Mr James O’Connor, a farmer, aged 35, of Waharoa, when the car he was driving from Rotorua to Waharoa on Monday Evening skidded in loose met fl and left the road, when passing over the Mamaku Hills. The vehicle fell a distance of 60ft. down the bank. Mr O’Connor sustained a broken thigh and arm. After treatment at a Malainata private hospital he was admitted to the Waikato Hospital yesterday afternoon, succumbing to his injuries in the evening. Deceased was accompanied by his three brothers, who, despite the fact that the car was extensively damaged, escaped with minor injuries. The inquest was formally opened at the hospital this morning, when evidence of identification was takenu. * CARS IN COLLISION. (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Tuesday. A head-on . collision occurred on Alexander Road yesterday afternoon be-twee ntwo motor cars, both vehicles being fairly extensively damaged. Mr M. Lewis, a traveller, of Auckland, who was driving one of the cars, received several facial injuries from the flying glass from the windscreen, and also had his leg injured.. Mr J. McLean, the other driver, was cut about the face and hands. Neither was seriously hurt.
