RUFFLED PETTICOATS.
Women, look to the writing on the wall. “ Ruffled petticoats are on the way,” says the latest bulletin of the Style Research Bureau, which supplies American retailers with every possible fashion development. “ Well-known French houses," it continues, “ among them Paquin, are posing broadcloth costumes, suit skirts over petticoat ruffles of white Valenciennes lace or batiste, while many other new creations are being planned over ruffled petticoats of batiste, crepe-de-chine, and lace. “For many years the petticoat has been the smallest volume item of underwear business. If its return materialises, it will revive an industry, which like the blouse industry, seemed to be dead forever,” the bulletin stated. Included in this thought provoking bulletin was .a sketch of a model resembling a Floradora girl with plumed hat and buttoned French-heeled shoes peeping from billowy beruffled petticoats. What are we going to do about it? It looks very much like the thin edge of the wedge.
