“ I don’t think I have ever seen such a large collection of threepences in all my life,” said a prominent member of the Winton Municipal Band after a concert had been given in the Theatre Royal on a recent evening (states the Winton corespondent of the Southland Times). “We succeeded in getting a large audience, but in cases where people could give a shilling or sixpence the threepence was used. The ccllection realised £3 Bs, and we are thankful that there is no.smaller silver coin than the threeDence.”
