WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

MATANGI BRANCH. A meeting of the above was held in /the Matangi hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs W. Trownson presided. 'Mrs Judd, secretary, read a report of Miss Topps’ meeting at Hamilton a few weeks ago, where it was decided not to form a sub-provincial branch at present. The secretary also read extracts from the report of the Dominion conference, which were very interesting, dt -was decided that they should appoint a delegate at the next meeting, to attend a meeting of Institute delegates at Hamilton. A story from the Isntitute Magazine ' entitled “A Canadian Washnig Day,” was read by Mrs Trownson. ' In a competition, “The Uses of a Lemon,” the answers were both varied and useful.

Mrs W.-Boyd read some interesting extracts from a letter written by her sister, who is a prominent member of the Institute in Scotland. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Dunford, Dixon, and ■Dawson. _
