WAIKATO SHOW.

ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY. A. & P. ASSOCIATION’S FIXTURE. GOOD RESPONSE RECEIVED. To-morrow entries will close for the annual show of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral ‘Association, which is to be held on the association’s grounds, Claudelands, on November 12 and 13. .'From a modest beginning the big Waikato fixture has increased in importance and to-day is generally recognised as one of the foremost fixtures of its kind in the Dominion. Situated in the centre of a rich dairying district, the big show each year is typical of the progressive farming interests it fosters. Every year a new record has been created as far as the number of exhibits is concerned, and there is every reason to anticipate, judging by present indications, that further records will be established at the approaching fixture. More especially should sucTi be so in the dairy cattle division. All breeds are amply catered for and entries expected this year should ensure spirited competition in the various classes. As in the past, pedigree Jerseys will predominate and some highclass blood lines will face the judges in the pedigree Shorthorn, Friesian and Ayrshire sections. The sheep section will again provide one of the major attractions of the big show. Entries are still pouring in and the majority of leading breeders of the district will be represented. The class for groups'of fat lambs, which proved such a popular innovation last year, should again- be the leading attraction in this section. The light harness and hack classes will be on a par with last year’s splendid entry. Judges who have attended previous Waikato summer shows have all been loud in their praise of the quality and number of horses that have come forward and entries already received are conclusive evidence that the public will have some splendid horse flesh to command their atteation again this year. The Home Industries section continues to hold the attention of a large body of keen exhibitors and it speaks volumes for the capable supervision'of this section that the old exnibitprs return again each year. The children’s classes, which form an integral part of this section, are receiving gratifying support and when entries close to-morrow a further record should be established numerically in these interesting classes.
