WAIKATO HUNT MEETING. TRACK WORK AT TE RAPA. SHOWERY WEATHER TO-DAY. e The weather was showery, with a high wind blowing, for training operations at Te Rapa this morning. The trestles were out 65ft. from the rails on the course proper where the going, while holding, was nevertheless in good order considering the amount of rain which had fallen over-night. A. P. Brady, M. J. Carroll and J. F. Tutchen worked their teams before breakfast when a stretch of fine weather was experienced. Pompieus and Star Comet were the first out, this pair getting to the end of seven furlongs in 1.46. Darby Lupin picked up Laudatory and the pair ran three furlongs in 45 secs.. Au Tahi worked at three-quarter pace over six furlongs, while Royal Visitor, Flying Rose and the Fortune Hunter 3-year old gelding, all members of Brady’s team, did useful exercise. Rita’s Light and Holly Holm, acceptors for the first division of the Bardowie Handicap at Cambridge worked nicely over half a mile, while King Ford was leading Glena Bay at the conclusion of their gallop. Paganelli acquitted himself satisfactorily in the task set him this morning.

Mervette Goes a Mile.

Mervelle (J. McLaughlin) was the first out; after breakfast. After doing pace work once round, Merveite was gathering speed when she reached the mile post on the course proper. The Lucullus mare ran the last seven furlongs in 1.40. She did her work nicely. Tradesman was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.43 without doing his best over the early part of the trip. Hakanoa, with A, Gilmer in the saddle, hit out freely over six furlongs in 1.25 1-5. _ Turonga was travelling satisfactorily in a gallop over three furlongs. Turonga is engaged in the second division of the Bardowie Handicap at Cambridge. He lacks barrier practice. Unoco with his trainer in the saddle, was worked over a couple of rounds. He is to start in the Members Memorial on Monday at Cambridge. Trig was given pace work over seven furlongs. The King Nassau gel-ding-looks in good order for his race in the first division of the Bardowie Handicap at Cambridge. Copey (N. Syme) was given .useful exercise ibis morning. The Marble Arch gelding, who is being temporarily looked after by R. Syme for the Hawera owner-trainer, J. Fryer, is in hardy condition lor his Cambridge engagements. The Sun (P. M. Brady) showed a disinclination to settle to his work this morning and never had his best pace on at any stage of the galloping alloted him.

Kaha, who is to have his opening start of the season in the Rruntwood Hack Handicap at Cambridge, has been worked on the hill portion of the racing club’s property at Te Rapa. Valuation, a member of A. Tinker s stable entered for the sprint event at Cambridge, will go to the post if the track does not. become 100 heavy. Pendavies, who got a.piece of titree into one of his legs, while schooling over the .country at Cambridge on Monday, was exercised at Te Rapa yesterdey morning. His trainer R. Syme, stated this morning that the leg injury was clearing up well.

HORSES AT CAMBRIDGE. SOME JUMPING THIS MORNING. ST. WARRIGAL & THIRL SHOW UP. (Special to the Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday.' There was some interesting work executed at the Cambridge course this morning. The flags were well out from the rails on the course proper, where the going was heavy -after the recent rain. Indolent and Black Mairie got to the end of five furlongs in 1.10. Indolent showed out in Ihe early stages, but Black Maire was in front at the finish. Mr V. Rickilt’s 2-year-old by Illumination went twice round at half pace on the inner grass. Miss Albyn and a companion were timed to run five furlongs in 1.9. Cristobel from the Hannon stable and an acceptor for the Bruntwood Hack Handicap on Monday, was accompanied by a Lord Multifid gelding over five furlongs, the time being 1.10. Brilliant Lady worked once round at half pace. Flapperette, after hitting the first fence hard, gave a good display over a round of the hurdles. Oscar, Luminary and Kiwinui went once round on the flat at a sound pace, Luminary finishing In front.

Milvana Shapes Well.

Milvane beat Musquin -and a companion over 5 furlongs in 1.9. Milvane, who is in the first division of the Bardowie Handicap, worked well and is in good order for the race ahead. Chromadyne, who is not engaged on Monday, was given an easy task on the inner grass. St. Warrigal gave a clever display of jumping over three of the steeplechase fences at the back of the course. He followed this up with once round and sprinted home in pleasing style. If the going is anyway favourable on Monday St. Warrigal will keep the Hunt Cup field busy. Waiau Lady and Cullgie went once round at a solid pace, the-former finishing well in front. Lucess, who has recently come in after a spell, was given .half pace work twice round on the inner grass. Marita went once round at a solid clip and is in good order for hi-s engagement in the Maiden Steeples on Monday.

Over the Country. Westbroke (Mr Baker) and Thirl (McGregor) went once round over the steeplechase fences. Westbroke was in front over the opening stages, but Thirl went up to him at the third jump and led his companion home by three lengths. Westbroke next cleared the sod wall, while Thirl went once round on the' grass and finished full of running.

THE ELLERSLIE TRACKS. SOME EFFORTS THIS MORNING. TWINKLER JUMPS WELL. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. The weather was fine when work commenced at Ellerslie this morning and the going was good but heavy. A shower just before the breakfast interval affected the ground and the times in consequence were slower. The No. 3 grass track, two-year-old hurdle and sand tracks were in use. On the No. 3 grass Importer was allotted a round, covering the distance in 1.5-1 4-5. Eager Rose was allotted a round which she completed in 1.49 1-5, last six furlongs taking 1.25 4-5. An Easy Six Furlongs. Tetrachate, who was going easily, was timed to run six furlongs in 1.27 1Kawainga and Ilowick ran 0 furlongs in 1.25 2-5. There was little between them at the finish. Gold Money, without being extended, traversed six furlongs in 1.26 2Hannibal, going freely, ran half a mile in 51 3-5. Members’ Memorial Candidate. Gay Cockade, who will contest the Members’ Memorial. Handicap, at Cambridge on Monday, completed a round in 1.44 3-s', running the last six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Red Lion was timed to run half a mile in 53 3-5. Scaramouche was not bustled to run six furlongs in 1.27 1-5. Llanore ran half a mile on the sand in 54secs. She did her work well. The dumpers. Twinlrlcr (D. Craddock) was schooled over six furlongs, giving a first class display. Scaramouche (J. Preston) was sent over the steeplechase fences on the Hat and completed the task in good style.
