GOOD RECORD BROKEN. FINED AND PLACED ON PROBATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. William Patrick Rigg (18) a clerk, pleaded guilty to-day to stealing two postal packets containing in all £3 11s 6d. The police said the boy had a good record, but one day when stamping letters'he noticed that one was torn and he took a postal note from it. Altogether he had opened about ten letters, all of which were addressed to Tattersall’s in Tasmania, His wage was 22s 6d weekly. The Magistrate fined accused £5 and admitted him to two years’ probation.
