Threats to take away the charters of banks which refused to accommodate Labour, were made by Mr Lang' at his Parramatta meeting. The power which, gave the banks the permit trado had the right to take that permit away, and if the banks were going to put their feet on the necks of the workers, he would see what could be done. He added: “If you do not break the power of the banks they will break you.”
