TE AROHA JUBILEE

AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. COMPLETE ARRANGEMENTS MADE The enthusiasm in connection with the jubilee of Te Aroha, to be celebrated from November 30 to December 6, is becoming more marked, and at a meeting of the general committee, at which the Mayor presided, the proceedings went to show a desire that the outlined programme should be carried to a successful issue. The chairman said thely had met to further the duties connected with the jubilee and also to consider ways and means to increase the finances connected with the undertaking. It was hoped the Labour Day sports would be a success, for the general fund would be considerably enhanced thereby. Mr A. P. Burton, chairman of the publicity committee, gave particulars of what had been done in regard to tlie publication of the Te Aroha Jubilee Book, for which a number of very interesting articles had been contributed. It was decided to arrange for an increased number of books to be printed. Mr Gus Walsh advocated the inclusion of a popularity campaign, which by the sale of voting cards would considerably increase the revenue. It was resolved that a social be held in the Parish Ilall on Friday, November 7. A discussion took place on the subject of the town being canvassed for subscriptions, and on the motion of the Mayor it was decided to institute a general canvass for funds, a considerable portion of which will be required for the entertainment of the pioneer visitors.
