COMMISSION OF INQUIRY
TO INVESTIGATE ACTIVITIES.
THE PERSONNEL

In his financial statement the Premier (Hon. G. W. Forbes) intimated that it was the intention of the Government to set up a Royal Commission to investigate all branches of the Railway Department’s activities, and advise where economies could be effected. ■
Mr Forbes now announces that the Governor-General has approved the following members of the Commission Messrs John Dryden Hall (Christchurch) j Richard William James' Marchbanks * (Wellington), Robert Masters (Stratford), and George Walter Reid (Dunedin). Mr Masters is to be chairman. The commission will commence its sittings at an early date.
