DOMINION POLITICS.
THE COMING SESSION. ELECTION PROBABLE THIS YEAR. OPINION OF LABOUR LEADER. NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. The coming session of Parliament would be full of interest and there was every possibility, if not probability, of a general election at the end of this year or at the beginning of next, said Mr H. E. Holland, Leader of the Labour Party, this evening. The Unitecl Party, which had followed too closely in the footsteps of the Reform Party, could not possibly carry on after the end of the present Parliament,” said Mr Holland. Labour was the only party in the House which had consistently increased its membership, and the organisation would be ready for an election at the end of next year. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. APPOINTMENTS EXPIRING. Additional interest is given to the present political situation by the facl that the appointment of four members of the Legislative Council will expire at the end of next week. The members affected are the Hons. J. Craigie, F. Mander, E. Newman and W. Rikihana. There are at present 39 members in the Legislative Council. Although there is no fixed numerical strength for the Council, the membership is generally regarded as being in the neighbourhood of 40-
