MUSSOLINI’S OUTBURST.
(To the Editor.) Sir,: —All students of international affairs will regret the jingoistic speech reported .by cable ' and credited to Signor Mussolini.. Possibly the cable message was necessarily short and only “ tit-bits ” used, so that the Italian dictator may have considerably qualified his remarks. However, the mere fact that he uttered such sentences should give cause for the greatest alarm among, strivers for world peace in every country. Undoubtedly Mussolini is a great man and his civil reforms have made a new Italy. To ruin all his constructive work by vain and arrogant' boasting savours more of Napoleon, Nero and Alexander the Great rather than a sane leader and statesman of the twelfth century. Mussolini’s, description of guns as “beautiful things” baffles understanding. Undoubtedly his reported outburst will have a grave reaction m diplomatic circles - and will hinder greatly the salutary effect of the propaganda worls, of the League of Nations.—4. am,, etc., NO MORE WAR.
