One reason why Shaun Goilin (winner) was at a fair price for the Grand National Steeplechase was his failure at Gatwick a week or so earlier. He was sent out favourite at 2 to i for the National Trial Steeplechase, but missed a place. The winner was Peggie’s Pride,' 1 1-0, Alike, ii.O, lieins second, and Coral Reef 11, 10.10, third. Shaun Goilin had 11.8, or only a pound more than his G.N. weight. After being last for some distance Shaun Goilin finished sixth. The distance was 3| miles. Peggie s Pride is a seven-year-old gelding by Tidal Wave from Magic Maid, by His Majesty.
