Easter Camps. During Easter the annual religious camp was held at Ngaruawahja. A good deal of preliminary work had been done in readiness for the main body upon its arrival. On their own property a large messroom had been erected, and so minimised labour in catering for 'such a large body of campers. It was reported that about 600 persons were in camp. The usual programme of religious exercises was held on the lines of previous camps, and the annual river picnic was held on Saturday. Boy Scouts. The local troop of Boy Scouts held their Easter camp on the troop’s camping ground in the Raglan County’s paddock. Arrangements this year surpassed those of past camps, there being a large swimming poo], a permanent kitchen, and a large dining and assembly marquee. On Saturday sports were held and exhibitions of Scout work and physical drill given, to which the public were cordially invited. Under Captain Williams the troop has made good progress in Scoutcraft. The following were the results of the programme :—Tent inspection— No. 2 patrol 1, No. 3 patrol 2. Swimming—G. Welsh 1, I. Garry 2. Cockfighting—Cairns and Campbell and Dean and Stone dead heat. 100yds championship—G. Welsh and M. Hampson dead heat. Relay race—No. 1 patrol 1, No. 3 patrol 2. Hop, step and jump—T. Bromwich 1, D. Hennessey 2. Three-legged race—Bromwich and Miller 1, Quintall and Cairns 2. Small Scouts’ race—Noel Stow- 1, T. Bromwich 2. Potato race—Cairns 1, D. Hennessey 2. Hurdles —Hennessey 1, C. Hill 2. Boot race—No. 2 patrol 1, No. 1 patrol 2. No. 3 patrol won the Seavill Cup by a small margin of points for the second year in .succession. There was very keen competition in this event.
