TAMAHERE.
Eellng Club. Last Saturday evening the banks of the Waikato were once again the l scene of great activity, when the Tamahere Eeling Club held the final meeting of the season. As on other occasions, several new members were present, and were accorded the usual hearty welcome. The catch was not up to the usual standard. At 12 o’clock the party gathered around the fire and partook of a supper that the president had generously supplied. After supper the secretary, on behalf of the club, thanked the president for the way in which she had placed her property at the club’s disposal for meetings, and also for the untiring assistance she had rendered in making the club a great success. He then called upon the club to give three cheers for the president, and these were accorded very heartily. In reply to the secretary the presi T dent stated that she was only too glad to have been able to help the club. The secretary announced that the total number of eels caught for the last seven meetings was 153. At the conclusion of the assembly u Auld Lang Syne” was sung, and a very enjoyable evening came to i an end.
