POPPY DAY.
HAMILTON’S COLLECTION. SLIGHT FALL ON LAST YEAR. poppy Day in Hamilton resulted in £257 being collected. This is £l6 less than was collected last year. The sum is, however, considered very satisfactory especially in view of the fact that the holiday season is still on and that many people are out of town. The thanks of the community are due to the ladies who gave their time and services to this charitable object; notably Mesdames H. C. Ross, H. D. Cobb, A. J‘. Denz, R. Pile, W. Powell and Monteith, the chief oraginsers.
AT CHRISTCHURCH. The sale of poppies at Christchurch realised £1550. It is estimated that £IOO is still to come. Last year’s total was £1067, which was then a record. AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Saturday. With a number of large returns yet to he received, the proceeds of the sale of poppies conducted in the city and suburbs promise to exceed last year's total of £2002. Already over £1466 has been paid in.
