SUNDAY OBSERVANCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—“Anti-Rational” lias chosen an excellent nom-dc-plumc for a more irrational letter than that whiQli appeared in your issue of Friday last could scarcely be penned. Tiie writer appeals to an authority which all rational thinkers have long since discarded. Your correspondent should recognise that the age of superstition has passed. Education and the discoveries of science have shown the falsity 'Of so many of the claims advanced on behalf of Christianity that only .the most credulous of the people can adhere to the “traditions of the elders?” “Anti-Rational,” to be convincing, will have to quote a more reliable authority than the alleged prophecies of ancient seers. He had better accept, the inevitable, admit that the cause he is championing is lost, and concede that mankind is entering upon a new era in which reason, not superstition, will prevail.—l am, etc., RATIONAL.
