FIRE-RAISER’S RUSE. t PROVES UNSUCCESSFUL. , i (By Telegraph.-—Press Association.) TAIHAPE, Wednesday. An attempt was made to burn the new premises of Messrs li. Hannah and Company, boot manufacturers. Benzine was splashed on the back well, and a length of fuse was connected with a partly-filled tin or benzine. The fuse burned to a kink in the coil, but it did not reach the hen--JLne. The fire brigade switches were also disarranged so that the alarm would have been ineffective. The police are investigating.
