TEXAS FRAUD CASE.

CROUCH AGAIN IN COURT. REMANDED FOR A WEEK. MAGISTRATE REFUSES BAIL. (by Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. John -Grey, land agent at Helensville, charged as A. B. Grouch, a man wanted in Texas for the alleged theft of £50,000, was before Mr Hunt, S.M., on remand. Mr Hubble, for the Crown, said the necessary papers had not yet arrived for the extradition, and he asked that accused be further remanded for a week. He said bail of £OOOO was granted last week to give the accused time to arrange his business affairs. This had been done, and he had sold his business. Owing to the peculiar features of the case, he now asked that Grey be remanded in custody. Mr G. P. Finlay, for accused, protested, saying that Grey had more than honourably observed the conditions of his bail. The Magistrate said that since he was prevailed on last week to grant bail the matter had worried him. He had to consider an obligation to a foreign country, and if Grey wanted bail renewed he could apply to the Supreme Court, which could take the responsibility of giving it. Bail was refused, and accused was remanded for a week in custody.
