By a unanimous vote the Auckland City Council decided at a special meeting last evening to oppose the suggested threepenny flat-rate tramway fare.

The first chips of the new season's strawberries were offered at the Auckland City Markets yesterday. Three chips of the Captain Cook variety realised 3s 7d each, and two chips of Marguerites 2s 3d each.

Rodwcll, lecturer in economics at the Auckland University College, the subject of bis address being "New Zealand's Prospects of Trade with the East.” After the address questions were asked and replied to, and a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker was carried by acclamation.

At a special meeting of the Raglan County Council at Ngaruawahia today the 1929-30 rate was struck as follows over the various ridings:— Karamu lid, Karioi 3id, Whangapc 2id, Pukemiro 2d, Port Waikato 2id, Onewhero 2d, Pirongia 2d, Whaingaroa 3d, Pukekawa 2d, Waingaro 2id, Te Akau 3d, Matakowhai 3id, out districts Raglan town lid.
