BOY'S NARROW ESCAPE
SWEPT DOWN RIVER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTi IN, Monday. Swept 500 yards down a deep, swiftly-flowing river after the capsize of a gig, and escaping Plough he could not swim, was the experience of Albert George Craig Hepburn, of Methvin, aged twelve, yesterday.
With his father lie was crossing the Ashburton River at Tagmhor. The father gave up hope when the boy disappeared down stream, and made his way to a farm-house, informing the police, who five hours later found Hie lad clinging to a tree. Except that lie was exhausted he was none the worse.
