ARMAMENT REDUCTION
INVITATION TO POWERS

It was announced at White House to-day that the President, Mr Hoover, had been in conference all the morning with the British Prime Minister. Mr MacDonald, at the former's camp in Virginia. As a result of their conversation Britain will issue invitations on Monday for a flve-Power naval disarmament conference in London, to begin on the Monday or the Tuesday of (he third week in January. The text of the invitations will be published on Wednesday, probably simultaneously in the five capitals concerned, namely, London, Washington, Tokio, Paris and Rome. The date of the conference is subject to alteration if the representatives of the five Powers find another date more suitable.
