LIGHT-HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE, EKLUND BEATS VANCE. AC IK LAND, Tuesday. The first contest for a world’s wrestling championship in Now ZcaJaiifl took place last evening, 1110 lillo involved being the light-heavy-weight one. The participants were Clarence Eklund, of Wyoming, holder of Hie title, and Farmer Vance, light-heavy-weight champion of Canada. r l’lie match ended suddenly and unexpectedly in ihe seventh round, Eklund retaining Ids title by two falls to one.

With one fall lo his credit in Ihe fifth round Vance bad the champion groggy in Ihc succeeding round by the application of deadlocks. When, however, Eklund dwelt on the mat Vance leapt in Ihe air and dived on top of his opponent. Eklund moved slightly to one side and Vance landed heavily on his heatl. He was completely knocked out and was easily pinned by Eklund, who struggled to his feet and walked very groggily to his chair. Vanec was carried lo his corner, but, in spite of the liberal use of cold water and much massaging, he could scarcely stand on his feet when the gong sounded for the seventh round, anti he was an easy prey for Eklund, who had revived in the interval.
