RAILWAY DISASTER.

A Maryborough message states that stock and goods trains collided at Croydon Junction. Several waggons were -smashed to matchwood. Kob-ody was hurt. j A sugarcane train in the Childers district toppled off a bridge into a gully I fifteen feet deep below. The driver, Alfred Hitchman, was pinned by the leg, which was crushed. He retained 'consciousness for six hours, while the fireman was trying to extricate him and the guard was looking for medical assistance, but lia. died shortly after his rescue.
