GAMES AT AUCKLAND. VARSITY AND PONSONBY DRAW. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Ten thousand people saw Ponsonby and University battle to a fourteenpoint draw at Eden Park this afternoon. It w r as a great, game and a great crowd. As a result of the draw the two teams are. still at the head of the championship table, and if the issue is to be decided a replay will be necessary. Throughout the game there was not a dull moment. It was real Auckland Rugby, with first one side and then the other showing the way. At one stage, thanks to Bush's boot, University seemed to have the game won, but the champions rallied and took the lead, only to be held to a great draw when the match was almost over. Training College had an easy win against North Shore, and Grafton collected points against College Rides by a nine-point margin. At tho Show Grounds, City just beat Marist, and at Onehunga Manukau beat Grammar by a good margin. King's College scored a good 'win against their oldest rivals, Auckland Grammar, by i'J points to 11. HaUiwcll was the hero of the King's fifteen, scoring one try, kicking throe penalties, and converting one try. The following players have been chosen by the Auckland Rugby Union's sole selector, Mr V. R. Wairarapa defeated the South Canterbury Rugby representatives in Lhc final match of the tour by 14 points to 11, after a kecnly-contpsted game. South Canterbury , had the better of the game in the first half, the forwards playing particularly* well in the loose. Although facing a strong sun in the second half Wairarapa had the - assistance of a light wind and showed greatly-improved form. Tho forwards used their weight with tailing effect, and the backs were much more dangerous on attack. The scores were 11 all until a minute from the call of time, when Stringfellow scored after a brilliant rim from near half-way. On the play in the second half the visitors deserved their win. Tries were scored for Wairarapa by Stringfellow (2), Jury and Sharp. Stringfellow converted one. For South Canterbury Scott and Trotter scored. Halstcad kicked a penalty goal and converted one try.
