The damage in Philippopolis alone is estimated at £4,500,000. Many hospital patients are lying in beds in the open. ;} The Government is devoting £45,000 to relief and the building of hutments in the neighbourhood of the devastated houses. It has also postponed the collection of taxes, and instituted a six months’ moratorium in the stricken region. His Holiness the Pope has subscribed £450 to the relief fund, and 4her foreign help is coming in.
