■ • * * Mrs C. B. Plummer, who has been in Rotorua for the last week, has returned to Hamilton and is the guest of her daughter, Mrs Hubert Hammond.
Miss Edna Langmuir was given a very fla'ttering reception for her songs and monologues at the piano in conjunction with the picture programme at Cambridge last week.
Mrs E. Souter and her daughter, who had been staying at their beach cottage at Narrow Neck, have returned to Cambridge.
Miss Thelma Banks, of Cambridge, is visiting her aunt, Mrs T. McLaughlin, of Epsom.
Miss Dale Austen, of Dunedin, who has been in America as “Miss New Zealand,” is on her way homo, and is due in Wellington by the Makura. She left San Francisco on Thursday, accompanied by Mrs Beatrice Vernon.
Miss Bertha Riccardo, now touring with the Moscovitch Company, scored a distinct success in the name-part of “Rose Marie” in a J. C. Williamson Company which went on tour in Australia at the same time as the production with Harriet Bennett as Rose Marie was interesting New Zealand audiences. This is her first visit to New Zealand.
A very lovely society hostess who gathers together very jolly week-end parties in her beautiful Norfolk home, Raynham Hall, is the Marchioness of Townshend. Her lovely braided hair recalls to us the almost forgotten charms of plaits. * m * * The marriage took place on Wednesday evening at St. Anthony’s Church, Huntly, of Maude Anne, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Baker Perry, of Kimihia, to Julian Charles, youngest son of Mrs Ralph and the late Mrs Robert Ralph, of Kimihia. The Rev. Father Curley performed the ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister, Marguerite, as bridesmaid, and the bridegroom by his brother, Louie, as best man. ENGAGEMENTS. The engagement is announced of Myrlic Claris, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Gemmill, of Cam* bridge, to Alfred Duflin, second son of Mr and Mrs F. C. Bluck, of Cambridge.
