MARLBOROUGH MEETING.' / ___ RACING AT TRENTHAM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TRENTHAM, Saturday. The Marlborough Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting opened at Trentham to-day in fine weather, with a fair attendance. The Hack Hurdles. Olympic and Bonhomme were the favourites for the Hurdles with which the Marlborough Club’s programme opened. Lady Passenger made the running to the hack stretch, where Bonhomme took the lead. Entering the straight lie was attended by Lady Passenger and Panorama, but here Polyphemus swept up from ihc rear, and went on lo jump the last fence first’ and win hy three lengths, while Panorama got up to beat Lady Passenger hy a short head. Modern was fourth; then came Bonhomme. Polyphemus smothered the opposilion for pace, aaid won with a lot in hand. Bonhomme, Modern and Olympic jumped poorly. Freeze Out Takes the Maiden. Inflame and Waihcmo were the favourites for the Maiden. They were in front with Freeze Out to the straight. Then Freeze Out and Inflame came away, Freeze Out winning by half-a-length. Tatrina was three lengths hack, third, with Second Thought fourth,,, and Fair One next. They were a poor 101. Waihcmo is a good-looking sort. i A Four Horse Race. In a four-horse race for the Hack Mile, Court Jester was the favourite, and llolus Bolus and Borsalenc were well hacked. Borsalenc led at a slow pace from llolus Bolus and Court Jester. At Hie half-mile Heed increased the pace on Borsalenc, and thereafter was never in danger of defeat, winning hy three lengiiis, widi a similar distance between second and third. Court Jester was short of work, owing lo a poisoned foot. The Waterlea Cup. Oratrix was a red hot favourite for the Waterlea Cup, from Ring Boy, Joy Bird and Kilmiss. Ring Boy and Vesperus made the running from Twink and Joy Bird, with Gratrix in the rear. There was little change till nearing Iho straight, where Ring Boy and Vesperus were slill in front of Joy Bird, with Oratrix moving forward. Once in line Bing Boy was beaten by Vesperus. Over the last furlong Oratrix challenged strongly, hut Vesperus responded and won by lirdl’ a length. Bing Boy was three lengths away, wilii Beaumont fourth, followed by Kilmiss and Joy Bird. Oratrix got into trouble once or twice in the. running, lull Vesperus was going fast as well at Hie post. He was very capably handled by the apprentice * Webster. who claimed a 3IL> allowance. Ming Boy had every chance. Beaumont finished from a good way back. Royal Duke’s Easy Success. According to Ihe betting the Juvenile Handeap was a one-horse race, and so it proved, Royal Duke , being in front from start to finish, and winning with the greatest ease hy four lengths. Boi De Sal, a half-brother to Uegage, stayed on just 100 well for Stanchion, and heat him hy a neck for second place. Teheka was fourth, and then came First Ruier and Mount Shannon. Royal Duke out-classed his opponents. Keddar Prevails. * For ihe Opawa Hack liie KeddarKindie bracket was favourite. There was little between Hie five all Hie way to the straight, where Fallow and Exhibition were in the lead. Once in line Keddar shot ahead, with Billion and Maui challenging. Keddar heat .Maui hy half a length, Billion being another half a length oil, clear of Kindle and Exhibition. Billion might have won hut for interference in the straight. Kilperon Beats First Acre. For the sprint. First Acre and Kilperon were equally hacked. Quantum and Singiespcar led to the course proper from Kilperon, Dobbin and First Acre. Once in line Kilperon came on, and. all out, beat First Acre bv haif a length. Royal Geres was the best, part of a length away, with Singlespear Tourth. and then followed Dobbin and Miss Pat. Dead Heat Recorded. There was a great finish in Ihc concluding event between the favourites Galkin and Moutoa Wonder with Helotis. The judge could not separate Galkin and Helotis, lint Moutoa Wonder was unlucky lo miss his eye. Roy Reed’s Field Day. Roy Reed rode four firsts (Rnrsalene, Royal Duke, Keddar and Catkin) and three seconds (Inflame, Oratrix, First Acre). The following are the concluding results: — AUTUMN HANDICAP.
