“In the development of a sane immi- ' gration policy we must -spend, more money and secure co-ordination of effort,” Sir Henry Thornton (chairof directors and president of the Canadian national railways) told the Parliamentary Immigration Committee on Thursday. He preferred a maximum of British settlers. , 'Mr G. 11. Cahan (a Conservative M.P.) advocated the Australian National Commission system for handling immigration. Sir 11. Thornton believed this would be the solution.
