GIRL FAINTS IN WATER. WHANGAREI, Wednesday. During a swimming lesson at the Whangarei school baths this morning Dorcen Conaghan, a pupil, fainted and sank. She was promptly rescued by Mr Harris, the master in charge of the class. RACEHORSE ATTENDANT INJURED WANGANUI, Wednesday. Attracted by groans and the sounds of a horse kicking, porters opened a horse-box on the train from Palmerston North at Marton this evening and found the attendant. Harry Barrymore, aged 29, lying beneath a horse's feet covered with blood. The young man was in charge of Mr Mitchell's Irotting horses which were proceeding to Wanganui for the meeting to-morrow. He is in a critical condition. He is .suffering from wounds on the scalp and the temple, a broken jaw and internal injuries.
