NICARAGUAN CANAL.
CONSTRUCTION BY U.S.A. URGED. BILL INTRODUCED IN SENATE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.'; WASHINGTON, March 27'. A bill was introduced in the Senate to-day by Mr Kenneth I. McKellar, Democrat member for Tennessee, providing for the immediate construction of a Nicaragua Canal to run parallel to the Panama Canal. The measure proposed that the new canal should be financed by a loan of £.'i 0,000,000 for 30 years at ,'j per cent, in Government bonds.
The promoter said a Nicaragua Canal would be a paying investment and would restore American prestige in Nicaragua, turning bandits into labourers, lie asked for a vote of £2,000,000 for a survey.
