MEETING OF COUNCIL
COMMITTEE REPORTS
At a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last night presided over by His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. R. Fow), the following committee recommendations were adopted:—
General Purposes Committee. J. 11. Wright: Sections Alma Street — That Lots 1. to 5, immediately in the rear of the South British Company's building, be put up for lease with the reserves and in the manner suggested by Mr J. 11. Wright Swarbrick and Swarbrick and Electrical Engineer: Community Lighting— That in view of the difficulties which it is anticipated will have to be met to keep the ordinary consumers supplied during the coining winter, the question of the installation of community lighting be deferred for a period of six months. Works Committee. Frankton Ratepayers' Association: Weeds and Long Grass on Footways— That they be advised that the work will be put in hand early in the new financial year. A. 11. Reeves: Marama Street Footway—That the question of kerbing the short length of Marama Street west of Lake Road be held over till the estimates are being dealt with. Borough Engineer: Relief Works— That in future two trucks only »e employed on relief works, and when necessary casual labour may lie used for such extra carting as may be required. Beautifying Society: Noxious Weeds, Jubilee Park—That the clearing of the blackberry lie carried out by relief labour during the winter months. R. Pope: Use of Entrance, Whitiora Sand Pit, Ulster Street —That he be granted the use of the entrance to the disused sand pit on Ulster Street during the pleasure of the Council. King Street. Residents: Kerbing Footways, etc., King Street—That, as suggested by the engineer, the street be cleaned up nnd the footways sanded with Ulster Street sand. Borough Engineer: Traffic Bridge Footway—That the engineer be authorised to bituminise the footway, at an estimated cost of £35. Sale of Tandem Roller—That the engineer be authorised to dispose of the roller at present in Auckland, for £175, as suggested. Rorough Engineer and Farmers' Auctioneering Company: Entrance to Garage, Barton Street —That the work asked for by the company be carried out on the terms suggested by the engineer.
W. Allen: Compensation—That the correspondence be received.
