A GOOD HARVEST.

THE FARMERS' SORROW. MILLERS ABLE TO BARGAIN. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. That there was an unfortunate aspect in the Dominion's surplus of wheat was stated by the Hon. W. Nosworthy when opening the Amuri Show at Waiau. " This surplus should make us independent of imported wheat this year, except for any necessary mixing purposes," said Mr Nosworthy. "It is rather unfortunate in one way that, a surplus has occurred, for millers are now able to bargain. If there had been no surplus, you could have made millers toe the line, and give the requisite price for your wheal." The Minister quoted figures and said they had had two record harvests. Last season a total of 221,689 acres produced 7,952,442 bushels of wheat, while this season 270,000 acres were estimated to produce 8,328,396 bushels. The farmer had had two good seasons and Ihin.es were looking more prosperous. He had great faith in the liberal use of manures for top-dressing pastures.
