IT DOES PAY INCOME TAX

Mr W. Machin, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, in addressing the annual conference at Chrislchurch yesterday, is reported as having stated that the Public Trust Office pays no income tax.

The statement attributed to Mr Machin is quite incorrect. The Public Trust pays an income tax al the highest rates under the Act.

The Public Trustee has telegraphed Mr Machin to this effect, asking him to correct the mistake.
