KISS CATHERINE JELLICOE.

The death is announced of Miss Catherine Jellicoe, aunt of Lord Jellicoe, formerly Governor-General of New Zealand, aged 104.

LATE MR T. J. LADD

YESTERDAY'S BURIAL SERIVCE,

The funeral of the late Mr Thomas .). Ladd, a highly-respected resident of Hamilton, "took place yesterday. There was a large attendance, including representatives, of the Druid's Lodge, Court Pride of Hamilton. A short service was conducted at the residence by the Rev. P. Paris, who afterwards carried out the ceremony at the graveside. The Druidic burial service was read by Mr W. Lee Mastin, service was read Mr W. Lee Martin, Past-Grand, President.

MRS RHODA EALES.

The death occurred of Mrs Rhoda Ealcs, at the age of 05, at Somerset Street, Franklon, yesterday. The laic Mrs Eales was a daughter of Mr William Catc (deceased) and was bora at Portsmouth, England. She arrived in .New Zealand some fifty years ago. and after residing in Chrislehurch and Taranaki for a number of years, settled at Frankton Junction, where she had lived for the past 20 years. The late Mrs Eales was widely known and respected and took an active part in maternity work. She is survived by her husband, three married daughters, three married sons and thirteen grandchildren.

HASTINGS, Monday

Rev. Father Christopher Soulas died this morning, aged 80 years, lie was born at .Nantes. France, and served in Ibe Franco-Prussian war. lie was ordained in IS7B and came the following year to New Zealand. where he devoted his life to missionary work among the Maoris in Taranaki. on the Wanganui River and in Hawke's Ray. lie was also associated with Mother Joseph Auber in the foundation of the Order of Sisters of Compassion, lie had spent the last three years in Hastings in retirement.
