Barbaric splendour and Oriental wealth of colour marked the coronation of Ri/.a Kalm as Shall of Persia The Shall wore a military uniform covered by a pearl cloak. He was attended by Ministers, and those present included diplomatic representatives and notables. Ri/.a Khan placed the new Crown, which was, specially made, on his own bead, and spurned the gorgeous throne and pearl Crown of his predecessors hi favour of the simple throne of Ihe Aigreele of Nadir, Shah and robber chief, who two centuries ago proclaimed himself Shah. A triumphant procession of Ihe new monarch in a gilt Royal coach through the streets lined wilh cheering thousands, closed one of the most picturesque ceremonies in recent years.
