BOWLING.

THE SUCCESS OF THE SEASON. (By " Toucher.") Rinks from each of the local clubs, and also llunlly, Cambridge and Ngaruawahia, altendcd Ihc Whitiora green on Saturday, ihc occasion being the presentation of ihc Hamilton Pennant to the club, as winners of this competition, for the past season. In presenting the Pennant, Mr D. G. Meredith (chairman of the committee) made reference to many important bowling matters. Mention was made of the all important season just ending having been a record one as far as big fixtures and visiting bowlers were concerned. In reviewing the local clubs' efforts Mr Meredith stated that every credit was duo to them for the splendid manner in which the big events had been supported, and the hospitality shown to visitors. Bowlers from afar had gone away with not only a good impression of Hamilton itself, but of the bowlers, who had contributed in no small way to make thoir stay enjoyable. Regarding the season's- competitions, Mr Meredith mentioned, that a "Star Rink" contest would be «.«ld, which would be controlled by the Pennant Committee. For this competition, a very valuable Shield had been generously presented by Mr 11. 11. Ilowdcn, who lias been consistently generous to the local sports clubs over a long period. This announcement .was received with a round of applause from all present. Mr Meredith referred to the work of Mr L. Jackson, as.secretary of the Pennant Competition, and also to his work in conncclion with Ihc Champion of Champion Singles Competition, and the Smith-Clarke Challenge Shield contests, all of which were under the control of the Pennant Committee. Mr R. Higgolt (president Whitiora Club), in replying, also made mention of ihc part the local clubs had taken ir connection with Ihc season's programme, and afterwards a very enjoyable afternoon was spent, and many keenly contested and interesting games were played, the green being in splendid o/der.
